It’s that time of year again to assist in bringing joy to families in
need at Christmas. Since 1974, the CMPD Explorers Christmas Project
has collected and delivered toys and food to hundreds of families
annually. In 2015 CMPD started a partnership with the Salvation Army
Christmas Assistance Program in an effort to support more families
with the Explorer Christmas Project.
Please see the attached instruction sheet that gives all of the
information about accessing the online pre-registration portal we are
using this year. Basically, if a client registered last year, has not
moved or had additional children – The Salvation Army will import
their application without further documentation. If the client is new,
The Salvation Army will need to see the typical paperwork via some
version of a virtual meeting, call or Email. If the applicant is new
and does not receive food stamps or free school lunch (direct
approval, not free lunch from a Title 1 school), The Salvation Army
would need to verify their household income is less than the
guidelines in the attached Federal poverty document.
This year the Salvation Army will not accept requests for bikes this year.
